Pool Times....

With summer brings the swimming pool! We joined the Cedar Creek pool and spent a good part of the weekend there. They have a baby pool and Jake seems to enjoy it a lot. Landry fell and went under yesterday, so since then she has not been a fan of getting out of mama's arms. Glad she is apprehensive about the pool, but hope she will relax and have fun in the water eventually.

Today at the pool...bought this pool toy for Landry, but you can see who insisted on getting in it...

Jake pretty much ate the entire time at the pool yesterday. I guess I need to make sure he has a good lunch before we hit the water next time around.
Sweet girl! This was right after I had to pull her out of the water...caught a quick smile.

Had to reminisce a little! This was from our pool days last year in Benton. My how times have changed! Looking for a little for fun this year:)
And on to more exciting news: we are officially potty training! I wanted to wait until school was out to start hard core. Yesterday he wore his underwear all day(with the exception of the pool and nap) and he did great all day, going every 30 minutes or so. Last night after dinner we did have an accident, but I was still oh so proud of him. Today we did great as well, but had less time to work with due to church(not sending him in underwear to church yet!) and then Jake's afternoon nap.
So that's it for now! Busy morning tomorrow, starting out at 5:20 for a run. I am off to bed!

Summer is HERE!

It has been a pretty uneventful week, so I neglected to post until now. These first pictures are from last Saturday when I thought I would sleep in and so I did not run. Well, LGT decided do something out of the ordinary and woke up at 5:25AM. By the time I got her down with us in bed it was 5:50 and Jake started crying. Now normally he will go back to sleep with us-no problem-but he wasn't accustomed to having Landry in bed with us! So by 6:20 we were in Landry's room playing with a forgotten Christmas present. It was great fun on Saturday morning! The picture doesn't do the dancing justice. They were jammin'!So after the dance session I decided to cook them pancakes with chocolate chips..why NOT add some more caffeine???

Does it LOOK like they enjoyed them!!!???

And last night we had a retirement party for our cafeteria clerk, Mrs. Mary Helen, and had a great crowd. I don't really hang out with the people I work with, so it was nice to see them at the Log Cabin away from school last night! Pictured below are Mrs. Cathie on the left(she teaches 1st grade and I work with the kids in her class), Lisa on the right(She teaches 2nd and 3rd grade special ed) and Kristy(6th grade special ed). It was a fun time!
And below is a picture of the house we are buying! I cannot wait to begin the process of choosing all the new stuff we are going to put in it...and no we aren't going all out. Matt has been getting all kinds of estmates from different people, but I am meeting with Cissy Napper on Monday and I think she is gonna seal the deal for me on the counter tops. I am excited about that. The first thing we are remodeling is the kitchen. We are putting in a new counter top and back splash, faces on the cabinets and changing out the stove. Also putting in new carpet. That is hopefully it for now and will take everything else in small steps. I love the plantation shutters on the house and it just has that Ruston "charm";)!!! I know, I know....
Last day of school tomorrow! Jake starts swim lessons on Monday and I am anxious to see how he does in the water without mama there. Have a great weekend!

Mudbug 5K

So glad it is Friday! It was a long week and I am SOOOO looking foward to spending the summer home with my babies! We have a trip to Vegas scheduled for the first weekend in June, then we are headed to Disney World with the kids, my mother and brother-in-law and his girlfriend, and in July we are going to Fort Walton Beach for a week with my parents. All of this is taking place while we are remodeling and moving into a new house. I can already tell that the summer will FLY by!

We headed to Shreveport last night after work and had a great time running the annual Mudbug 5K. I hadn't raced a 5K in 4 years, but Sarah and I finished 1-2 with me running 20:39(my watch was faster than the recorded time so I am going with it!) and Sarah ran 21:12. Maybe not my best time, but a lot has happened in the last 4 years! so I was pleased with my effort. Shelley Parker joined us and she did great as well. She runs with another group that runs a little later than we do, so it was nice to have her go with us. And of course mom's running group brought over at least 10 runners, so there was a large group representing Ruston.

Looking forward to a 3 day weekend and relaxing a bit! Enjoy the pictures:

Fun Weekend in LC!

Oh my goodness, we had a blast this weekend. It was great visiting with everyone Matt works with and their spouses. We stayed by the pool from 9-6 on Saturday...the weather was great after an early morning rain and we had fun. That night we ate seafood before hitting the bed! I was pretty spent after a late night on Friday and then all day at the pool on Saturday. We got to Bossier this afternoon around 3:15. The kids were great for GiGi and Papaw, but I am SURE they will sleep well tonight;)! We arrived home in Ruston around 4:30.

Well, the kids are in bed and we are about to catch up on Grey's and then watch Desperate. Only 1 more FULL week of school and then the next week we have Monday off and then only a half day on the 29th, our last day. This Thursday Sarah and I are planning on running the Mudbug 5K in Shreveport. Looking forward to finding my racing legs again...it should be interesting!

FUN WEEKEND!

Matt and I are headed to Bossier after school to attend the annual FCA silent auction and drop our babies off with his parents. I then have a half day tomorrow at school before heading down to Lake Charles. I seem to have mistaken the name of the place where we are staying, but I'd be fine at the Best Western...as long as I can sleep past 7am:)! The Berg du Lac is where we are headed. They have a great lazy river around the pool. Nice. So we will be there until Sunday. I will miss my babies but am looking forward to visiting with people over the age of 2...have a great weekend!

Mother's Day and more

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, grandmother, and mother-in-law! I have been so blessed with wonderful role models and can only hope to be the same for my precious little ones. I would love to go more in depth to that topic, but I am in a hurry to get this post over with(so sorry) so that we can play outside when Landry gets up from her nap!

Friday evening Matt had to umpire, so mom and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a pool for the yard. Wish you could have seen us riding home with that big thing hanging out of the back of my Yukon...mom was in the middle between the car seats holding the pool in. What we do for our kids! Well, it was worth it! The water was freezing and Landry's poor lips were blue, but she insisted on playing in it for an hour.

Saturday we went to Bossier after my morning run so that Matt could help his aunt clean out her house and we tagged along. That afternoon I took the kids to a birthday party and they did OK despite the fact they hadn't had adequate naps. Landry wasn't into the pool AT ALL, but it was rather chilly and I had to keep an eye on both kids. Hopefully when I can take the time to get in with her and such she will be more open to the experience! Jake was gong ho, but I had to tell him NO a lot due to only 1 adult being there.

This morning we had Baby Dedication at our church. Our move to Ruston caused us to miss the dedication service at our former church in Benton, so we waited until now to dedicate Landry Grace. Whew! We should have done it earlier because the older they get, the harder it is to contain them in front of a congregation:)!. But she did fine and of course looked darling! Both of our families were there and after lunch that lasted a whee bit long, we made it home in time for naps.

Now both kids are up and we are headed outside for another swim! Matt and I are headed to Lake Charles this weekend with some couples from his company and are staying at the Beau Rivage. Sooo looking forward to Friday off and a relaxing weekend! 3 more weeks of school.

We sold our house!!!

Quick update while the kids are at recess:)! We sold our house this morning and will be able to stay in it until Aug. 1 if needed! We close on our N. Vienna Dr. house on the 15th of June and will leave 2 days later for Disney World for a week. The first weekend in June we are headed to Vegas(with out the KIDS!), so needless to say June will be a crazy month!
We plan to do a little remodeling in the kitchen of the house we are moving into, so it will be nice to have some time to do it with! Just a little UPDATE! FRIDAY is almost here!

House for Sale!

Not too much to post, but I took a couple of pictures before church on Sunday of the kiddos. The second picture is of LGT goofing off but all I can say is she gets it honest!

Our suprising news is that we are in the process of buying a house located across the street from Hillcrest Elementary and are selling our current home(1085 sq ft, 3 bd 2 ba if anyone is interested!). We will be signing the house papers on June 15, 2 days before we leave for Disney. The house is 4 bd, 2 bath, formal dining room, and has 2 living rooms(2200 sq ft...so excited about SPACE!). I have always LOVED this house and was talking with the current owner one night at church. Was actually talking about another house we were looking at and didn't realize she was wanting to sell hers! So we went and looked at it that night and put an offer on it the next day. Houses in Ruston that are worth buying rarely are for sale(or sell before we can find out about them!), especially on this part of town, so we decided to jump on the offer! YES, we still have a lot in Creeks Edge, but I'd much rather be in town than "way out there"(Matt says there is nothing too far out in Ruston...whatever!) and this house is one neighborhood over from my parents. So we will probably sell the lot or might decide to build on it in 6-8 years. Who knows!

Well, more details to come about that later. Missed my Monday run due to the kids being up off and on throughout the night. I was WAY too tired to get up that morning. So now I am looking forward to my run in the morning with Sarah. We are going to do the Mudbug 5K in Shreveport in a couple of weeks. That should be fun and I have talked Matt into doing it, too.
Happy Wednesday!
